KANCHANABURI, Thailand: Prom Meesawat continued his hot form on the 2020 TGA Singha-Sat Tour by firing a flawless 65 to take a share of the lead after day one of the Kanchanaburi Championship at the Blue Sapphire Golf & Resort on Friday.

The 36-year-old Hua Hin native who arrived this week on the back of victory at his last outing, the Singha Pattaya Open, was joined at the top of the leaderboard on five-under by Namchok Tantipokhakul, Dantai Boonma, Kwanchai Tannin, Panupol Phittayarat, Natipong Srithong and Vuttivit Charoenpornanukul.

“I just wanted to give myself chances to score. The course was playing short but the greens were not always running true, similar to Royal Hua Hin.“

SINGHA PATTAYA OPEN – FINAL DAY REPORT

Heavy rain late in the day forced a premature end to play, with a number of players forced to return early Saturday to complete the first round.

Early starter Prom took full advantage of a course set-up similar to his hometown links at Royal Hua Hin. The burly veteran posted five unanswered birdies and left the course happy with his efforts.

“I played quite well today,” said Prom. “I just wanted to give myself chances to score. The course was playing short but the greens were not always running true, similar to Royal Hua Hin.“

The group of five stood within one of the leaders, including Weerachai Yuanyang, Settee Prakongvech, Itthipat Buranatanyarat, Charng-Tai Sudsom and Nattawat Suvajanakorn.
